Hope Farms at the Market

Here is the lovely spread that Hope Farms brought to the farmers market on Saturday.

And this was the best cucumber that I have ever had, so sweet and juicy.  Look for them from Hope Farms.

Gordon (Speck) and Peggy

"We've been happily married for 50 years, but not to each other."
This lovely couple met at the Senior Center while performing in White Christmas as part of an acting troupe called SOAP (Slightly Older Adult Players) about two years ago and have been like teenagers in love ever since.  They have a standing date on Friday for lunch and a movie, love conversation, writing verse, and just being together.

Speck's grandfather milled the wood for this clock and payed $28 to have it made.
A man's bathroom says a lot about him.  Speck's tells me that he is an old fashioned guy who still uses a shaving brush and shaving lotion.

This rhyming dictionary comes in handy to write the poetry that Speck shared with me.
 Peggy loves his work.
They laugh at the same things.  And smile just because they are with each other.

Ethel Revisited

I stopped by to see Ethel again and try out my new low light lens (28mm F1.8 for you camera nerds).
This is the look that you get if you make Ethel mad.  You do not want to make Ethel mad.
Ethel loves jewelery and was showing me her current wish list.
In case you wondered there is a silly side to Ethel.
We had a very nice visit.

Beet Bouquet

I picked these baby beets from my garden this afternoon and thought they would make a lovely bouquet.  They do!  Someone please get married on a farm and let me by your floral designer and photographer.

Up With the Sun at Hope Farms

I joined the team at the farm for the Friday harvest starting at 6:30 am.  I felt like a real farmer.  All of this deliciousness will be coming to a farmers market near you (If you live in the Ft. Collins area.)

I discovered this still life in the field, it tells a tale of a war with the weeds. Organic style, no pesticides!
 Baby beets
Flowering broccoli may not be good eating but it sure is pretty.

I'm not going to lie, I ate a couple of these juicy little sweeties.
Lovely intern Lucy was on Kale duty this morning.

Josh loves the beets, you can eat the leaves and roots.  The whole package is delicious.
  Purple beans
 An impressive Swiss Chard leaf.
The Farmers: Josh, Lucy, and Ben.

From Hope Farms to My Table

I am going to be having the privilege of photographing the delicious and beautiful produce from Hope Farms which is just down the road from my house, very convenient.  And to sweeten the deal I got to bring some kale, peppers, broccoli, eggplant, and squash home.  See that kale being harvested below, it is now in my belly.
Now that is farm to table!

Two Silly Sisters Welcome Baby Aaron

Aaron is finally here.  Macie and Julia are so excited and still wearing their "big sister" bracelets from the hospital.  That is going to be one tough boy when they get done with him.

This rocking chair is a family heirloom.  Poor Aaron was a little long to fit in it but he was a good sport.
